Konstantine by Something Corporate

Ok, this song rules. I know the lyrics are long and emo, but it's one of my favorite songs. I can't seem to find a copy of it on the internet. If you can get a copy of it, or just send me a message, give it a listen. Good song. Watch for the Jimmy Eat World reference two thirds of the way through.

I can't imagine all the people that you know
And the places that you go
When the lights are turned down low
And I don't understand
All the things you've seen
But I'm slipping in between
You and your big... dreams
It's always you and my big dreams

And you tell me
That it's over
But I can't stand here in a patch of four leaf clover
And your restless
And I'm naked
You've got to get out
You can't stand to see me shaking
No, could you let me go
I didn't think so

And you don't want to be here in the future
So you say
The present's just a pleasant
Interruption to the past
And you don't want to look much closer
'Cause you're afraid to find out all the hope
That you had sent into the sky by now had... crashed
And it did because of me

And then you bring me home
Afraid to find out that you're alone, no
And I'm sleeping in your living room
But we don't have much room
To live

And I had dreams that I would learn to play guitar
Maybe cross the country
Become a rockstar
And there was hope in me
That I could take you there
But dammit you're so young
But I don't think I care
And if I hurt you then I'm sorry
Please don't think that this was easy

And then you bring me home
'Cause we both know what its like to be alone, no
And I'm dreaming in your living room
But we don't have much room
To live

Konstantine came walking down the stairs
Doesn't she look good
Standing in her underwear?
And I've been thinking, and I've thinking, no
But she's been drinking
And it doesn't get me anywhere

My Konstantine came walking down the stairs
And all that I could do
Was touch her long blond hair
And I was thinking, what I was thinking ya know
We've been drinking and it doesn't get me anywhere

This is because I can spell confusion with a K
and I like it
It's to dying in another's arms
And why I had to try it
It's to jimmy eat world
And those nights in my car
But this time I'm alone, and I don't see those stars
I'm not your star?
Isn't that what you said
What you thought this song meant
You thought this song meant

And if this is what it takes
Just to lie in my mistakes
And live with what I did to you
And all the things I put you through
I always catch the clock it's 11:11
And now you want to talk
It's not hard to dream
You'll always be my Konstantine

They'll never hurt you like I do
No, They'll never hurt you like I do
No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No

This is to a girl who got into my head
With all these pretty things she did
Hey Baby, You know that you keep me up in bed
It's to a girl who got into my head
With all the fucked up things I did
Hey maybe baby, you could keep me up in bed
My Konstantine

Spin around me like a dream
We played out on this movie screen
And I said,
Did you know I miss you
Did you know I miss you
Did you know I miss you
Did you know I miss you
Did you know I miss you
Did you know I miss you
Did you know I miss you

God, I miss you

And then you bring me home
And we'll go to sleep but this time not alone, no no,
And you'll kiss me in your living room, oh
And you see, no, that I've been missing in my Living room
Cause this is what I miss, what I miss
We don't have much room
I said, does anybody need that room?
Because we all need a little more room
To live

My Konstantine

The NEW Internet

Homework = Home + (Time*10) + Work

This stupid flash movie took me FOUR HOURS to make. Granted I was watching a basket ball for a lot of it, and I have barely used Flash before. But I couldn't believe how long it took me to do this. Hopefully the next part of the project will come easier now. Or else I'm screwed.
Click on the 'tab' to make it expand. In the future it will include a list of all the 'animals' you've caught so far. And by 'animals', I mean 'butterflies'. Really makes you want to play eh? You can check out the Collect and Identify website, but it really only contains things like the design document. Nothing cool yet.

Apple - Thoughts on Music

(Click the Apple to see the article)

Today Steve Jobs posted a blog-type entry on Apple's website about his thoughts on digital rights management and music sharing. In the current digital rights management (DRM) system encoded into iTunes music, the files can only be played on iPod's and iTunes software. But many people are complaining about this. They want to buy their 99 cent songs and be able to share them with their friends or play them on any computer/CD player. Well, this is a problem. It turns out the big music companies don't want that, and only allow iTunes to share music as long as DRM is in place.

In his article, Steve Jobs makes some very convincing arguments as to why DRM should be abolished. I totally agree.

I can see you....

So I've been tracking the hits on my blog for the past three months using Google Analytics. That means that every time you open my blog, it runs a piece of code that sends information to Google, who keeps it for me to view later. That means that I can see when/where/how many times people view the site. I've got you guys in the palm of my hand! Well, not really. I can only tell down to the hour, and it doesn't update for a day usually. And the 'where' part is not good either. I get a large number of hits from Ames, which makes sense, yet they register as coming from a tiny town 20 miles away. I just find it more interesting that I get hits outside the USA. I'm guessing these people are using blogger's 'random blog' link. I know some of my friends read the blog, especially since I have a 67% of hits are from returning visitors. Here's a screen shot of the print out I see:

oh yeah, and the orange spike there I think was before I learned to filter my hits. One day I looked through the site and did some revisions to the labels on previous postings.

Great Party, Bad Turnout

Wow, what a weekend! This past weekend we had some friends in town for both of my roommate's birthdays (last week and tomorrow). We had two friends visiting from Iowa City, three from Minneapolis, and a crew from Des Moines that backed out. We had a whole party lined up with beer pong and a keg with only one problem. It was freezing out. Very few people showed. But the people who did had a great time. I managed to win three beer pong games in a row, bringing my record up to 4-1. There was a lot of "white people" dancing. Around 12:30 (I think) I was up stairs talking to some people when one of my friends came into the room. He said "You need to go downstairs. The cops are here." Not good. I guess our neighbors called in a noise complaint. So I was the guy in charge, and I needed to sober up quick. Luckily they were just there for the noise complaint, and told us to clear out everyone that wasn't staying the night. So we did, and sent them all over to our friend's place a stones throw away. We all assumed they would come back after the police had left, but at least one drunk kid drove home. He's not too bright. Then, as they waiting for my driver's license to be checked via radio, the cop happened to notice a few of my decorations on the walls. They asked where I got my road signs. They could only see 4 of them, so I told them two where bought, one I found in a dumpster and one was a gift. I could have been in a LOT of trouble if he didn't believe me, since I don't have receipts for all of them.

Anyway, the party was a success.
